David Aquilar will present "Wonders of the Solar System: What we've learned about Pluto and the Search for Mysterious Planet 9". The lecture is free and open to the public. There will be a book signing before the lecture, and copies of David's latest book, "Seven Wonders of the Solar System" will be available for purchase and signing.
David A. Aguilar is the past Director of Science Information at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. A naturalist, astronomer, author and artist, David’s expertise lies in showing us the fascinating connections between the universe and ourselves
In 2015, he left Harvard to join NASAs New Horizons special media team on the Pluto flyby mission. He is author/illustrator of seven National Geographic books: "ALIEN WORLDS"; "SPACE ENCYCLOPEDIA" and its primer "PLANETS, STARS, AND GALAXIES: A Visual Encyclopedia of Our Universe" and winner 2008 VOYA Award; the popular “13 PLANETS”, winner 2011 Eureka Gold Award and "SUPER STARS!”
His work has been featured on the BBC, The History Channel’s “UNIVERSE”, ABC News, Time magazine, US News, CNN, NY Times, USA Today, National Geographic, Sky & Telescope, Astronomy, and Scientific American.
